Drawing, "Monument for an Accademia della Pace", 1810–20

type: Drawing

See all objects.

An armored woman holding a caduceus and a wreath is seated upon a crouching lion before a pedestal. A genius points out to her. Its inscription: "ACCADEM [ia] / LA PACE". The right arm of the genius is put around the bust of a young man, probably representing Raphael, which stands upon the pedestal. Objects referring to the arts are on the floor before the pedestal. The setting is the interior of a circular domed hall. Framing lines, literally and at the bottom. SEE: Notes regarding C-H drawings, folder in Giani file.
