type: Drawing

See all objects.

A design for a decorative panel with vertical composition. From the bottom up: two sea creatures (mermen) carry a base upon which two women stand beside an altar with a burning flame. The women are raising a wreath directly above the flame. Next are garlands on which hangs an octagonal medallion, with an image of two sacrificing women. Two half figures of winged children suspend the medallion from a long string/ribbon. The composition ends with a decorative. The panel is inscribed within a frame.
