Born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1934. Education at University of Cincinnati and at Harvard University. Fellow at American Academy in Rome for two years and then settled in Princeton, NJ where he established practice and also became professor at Princeton University. Member of "New York Five", Graves was interested in Modernism following the methods of Le Corbusier but by 70s, his style became more electic.
